Tufar Weather for iPhone · Effective October 9, 2026
Tufar Weather has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not run servers that receive your data. Your location is used only to get the weather where you are.
If you allow location access, the app uses your location only while you are using it. It shows local conditions, radar around you, and your distance from alerts and storms.
To get your forecast and air quality, the app sends your approximate coordinates (rounded to about 10 meters) to Open-Meteo, a third-party weather service. No name, account, device identifier or other personal information is sent with them. Open-Meteo handles requests under its own privacy policy.
If Open-Meteo does not respond, the app sends the same kind of coordinates to MET Norway as a backup forecast source. To find the weather alerts for your location, the app also sends your coordinates to the National Weather Service. These services receive no other personal information.
You can deny location access and choose a Georgia city from the list instead. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings › Tufar Weather › Location.
The app downloads public data from the services below. These requests do not include your location or any personal information. The only exceptions are the location requests described above.
| Service | What the app requests |
|---|---|
| National Weather Service | Active alerts for the state of Georgia, and alerts for your location |
| OpenFEMA | Disaster declarations for the state of Georgia |
| National Hurricane Center | Currently active tropical storms |
| RainViewer | Radar map images for the area you are viewing |
Like any internet request, these services can see your device's IP address.
Your settings, chosen city, emergency kit checklist, family emergency plan and outage reports are stored only on your iPhone. They are never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes them.
Outage reporting is currently a demonstration feature. Reports are not sent to any utility or to us.
When you share something from the app, such as an alert, your family plan or an "I'm Safe" message, it goes through the standard iOS share sheet to the people and apps you choose. We do not receive a copy.
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date.
